Table of Contents Index 194 Additional Information...Troubleshooting Symptom Battery life is short. The unit will not turn off. "System Error" is displayed. The unit turns off automatically. The start-up screen is not displayed. Cause or corrective action The surrounding temperature is too high or too low. Operate the unit at the recommended temperature ( page 247). The battery may have reached the end of its useful life. Replace it with a new one. To get a new battery, call 1-800-488-SONY (7669). Set "Auto Backlight Off" to "YES," and set "Auto Power Off" to "YES." The HOLD feature is activated. Slide the HOLD switch in the direction opposite the arrow ( page 26). Remove the battery, and reconnect the AC power adaptor to the unit. Wait a few minutes, and then turn on the unit. Do not attempt to turn off the unit while the start-up screen is displayed. Remove the battery, and reconnect the AC power adaptor to the unit. Wait a few minutes, and then turn on the unit. "Auto Power Off" is set to "YES." Set it to "NO." The unit turns off when the rechargeable battery is drained. Charge the rechargeable battery using the supplied AC power adaptor. If it has been more than three days since the last time the unit was used, the start-up screen appears. In other situations, the screen that was being displayed when the unit was turned off appears. Display Symptom No screen is shown on the display. The display suddenly goes dark. Cause or corrective action "Auto Backlight Off" is set to "YES." Press any button.
