Changing Your Backup Settings 5 Click Next, then click Finish. Adaptec File Saver scans your files and does a backup, if required. Note: Setting changes apply only to backups that occur after the change is made, and do not affect your existing backup files. To delete backup files that you no longer want, see Deleting Backup Files on page 5-14. Including New Folders in Backups When you create new, top-level folders on your computer, include those folders in backups by following the steps in Customizing Backup Settings on page 3-2. Once a top-level folder is included in backups, all new folders and files created inside that top-level folder are automatically included in backups. You don't have to change any settings. Excluding Files and Folders To exclude a file or folder from backups, click inside its checkbox until the checkmark disappears. Note: When you include a folder for backup, but exclude subfolders or files within that folder, the icon shown at right appears in the checkbox. Note: You can also access the Basic File and Folder Settings window by selecting Views and Advanced Tools in the main menu (shown on page 2-2) selecting Tools, then selecting Change Backup Settings. 3-4

Including New Folders in Backups
