Viewing and Managing Your Backup Files Restoring Older Backup Versions By default, when you restore a file, Adaptec File Saver restores the most current backup version of the file. You can restore older versions of a backup file, if required. You can restore any file to its original location, or you can restore it to a new location. Adaptec recommends that you follow the advice provided for your specific situation: ■ If you have a new computer, or a new operating system on your computer, restore files to a new location. ■ If neither your computer nor your operating system have changed, restore files to their original locations. Restoring a File Version to Its Original Location To restore an older version of a backup file to its original location: 1 Open the Tree view, following the instructions in Viewing Your Backup Files on page 5-2. 2 In the view window, click the file you want to restore. 3 In the Tools menu, select Restore an older version. 4 In the File Properties dialog box, click the Storage tab. 5 Select the file version you want, then click Restore selected version. 6 Click OK. The file is restored to its original location Restore a File Version to a New Location To restore an older version of a backup file to a new location: 1 Follow Steps 1 to 5 in Restoring a File Version to Its Original Location on page 5-11. 2 Select No, specify another location, then click Browse. 3 To restore to an existing folder, find the folder in the Browse For Folder dialog box, then click OK. To restore to a new folder, click New Folder, type a name for the folder, then click OK. 5-11

Restoring Older Backup Versions
