Viewing and Managing Your Backup Files Comparing Backup Files to Originals Note: You should be an advanced user before attempting to use this feature of Adaptec File Saver. You can compare the latest backup version of a file to the original file on your computer. You might want to do this if the original file has been corrupted, or if you have accidentally deleted some of your work and want to restore it. To compare a backup file to an original file: 1 Open the Tree view, following the instructions in Viewing Your Backup Files on page 5-2. 2 In the view window, click the file you want to compare. 3 In the Tools menu, select Advanced, then select Compare backups to originals. Adaptec File Saver does the comparison. If the selected file matches its original, the file status remains the same. (See Checking Backup File Status on page 5-3 for more information.) If the selected file does not match its original, the file status changes to Original does not match, and the file is listed in the Exceptions view. (See page 5-6.) 5-8

Note:
You should be an advanced user before attempting to
use this feature of Adaptec File Saver.
You can compare the latest backup version of a file to the original
file on your computer. You might want to do this if the original file
has been corrupted, or if you have accidentally deleted some of
your work and want to restore it.
To compare a backup file to an original file:
1
Open the Tree view, following the instructions in
Viewing Your
Backup Files
on page 5-2
.
2
In the view window, click the file you want to compare.
3
In the
Tools
menu, select
Advanced
, then select
Compare
backups to originals
.
Adaptec File Saver does the comparison. If the selected file
matches its original, the file status remains the same. (See
Checking Backup File Status
on page 5-3
for more information.)
If the selected file does not match its original, the file status
changes to
Original does not match
