1 Secondary IDE connector. This connects the DiGiMatrix subsystem for additional data storage. 2 CPU socket. This 478-pin surface mount, Zero Insertion Force (ZIF) socket is for the Intel® Pentium®4/Celeron (Northwood) processor with 533/400 MHz system bus that allows 4.3GB/s and 3.2GB/s data transfer rates, respectively. 3 DDR DIMM sockets. These two 184-pin DIMM sockets support up to 2GB using unbuffered non-ECC PC2700/2100/1600 DDR DIMMs. 4 North bridge controller. This SiS651 controller integrates a high performance host interface for the Intel® Pentium® 4/Celeron processor, a DDR 333/266 memory controller, and the SiS MuTIOL® technology that allows interface with the south bridge controller at rates of up to 1GB/s. 5 IEEE 1394 controller. This 1394 controller provides up to 400 Mbps data trasfer rate for throughput devices such as DV camcorders, digital cameras, scanners, and printers. 6 AudioDJ controller. This chip allows you to play MP3 files from the optical drive or from your hard disk drive without entering the operating system. 7 Audio CODEC. This chip is an AC '97 compliant audio CODEC that allows 6-channel audio playback. 8 Card reader controller. This is a 6-in-1 card reader controller with USB 1.1 interface that allows faster data transfer rates for storage cards. 9 Card reader firmware. This chip contains the programmable EEPROM for the card reader. 10 Flash EEPROM. This 4Mb ISA chip contains the programmable BIOS program. 11 Super I/O chipset. This Low Pin Count (LPC) interface provides the commonly used Super I/O functionality. The chipset supports a Standard Infrared (SIR), TV remote control, PS/2 mouse, PS/2 keyboard, card reader, and Flash ROM. It also employs the SmartGuardian technology that monitors CPU and chassis fan speeds and other system conditions. ASUS DiGiMatrix 4-3
