7 Binarization and Color Separation Running color separation When performing the separation procedure, the program creates a separate monochrome image for each category and places the object points, belonging to this category on this image. The AutoCAD layers are created in the drawing, on which new raster images are placed. The layers' names are the same as the category's names. Images colors are defined according to the symbolic colors of appropriate categories. New monochrome images are named _N , where N is an integer number. You can separate several color raster images into layers simultaneously. If several images are inserted in the drawing and they are available (visible, located on unlocked layers), then you need to select a group of raster images performing the operation. * For more detailed information on the selection procedure see "Selecting Several Images" on page 20. You can apply layering to images with a clipping boundary. Using this feature, you can restrict the layered area in any image, specifying its clipping boundary. * For information on clipping boundary application see "Using AutoCAD Clipping Boundary when Selecting a Part of an Image" on page 30. To adjust and perform color separation 1. If there are several images in the drawing, then select the one you want to process on the screen and open the Color Separation dialog box using one of the following methods: Click the Color Separation button on the WiseImage toolbar. Choose Color Separation from the rImage menu. - or Open the Color Separation dialog box without selecting an image. If there are several images in the drawing, then the selection dialog box is displayed. Select the images you want to process from this box. 2. Create a category set, using the Create Category button. If you want to modify a category definition or delete a category created by mistake, then use the Delete or Modify buttons in Categories. Use the color separation dialog box preview window to view the results of modifying the parameters. Note that an image preview in scale 1:1 provides the most reliable results. For more information on the preview window see "Preview Window" on page 17. 3. If you are not satisfied with the results of separation, then try one or several methods: Modify the category basic colors or add new basic ones, using the Colors buttons. Note that you should specify a sufficient number of basic colors, 107
