8 Filtering Monochrome Images On the second step the filter turns the pixels with a brightness value less than the Threshold value black. The wide black lines in the figure above show the boundary within which the pixels turn black and outside of which pixels turn white. If the Threshold value increases, then it causes the object to thicken. On the other hand if the Threshold value reduces, then it makes them thinner. To smooth raster objects 1. Select the image or part of the image you want to process and start the filtration using one of the following methods: Click the Smoothing button on the Raster Image toolbar. Select Smoothing from the rFilter menu. - or Start filtration without selecting an image. Select an image you want to process from the selection dialog box. * For more detailed information on the selection procedure see "Selecting Several Images" on page 20. After the image selection the following dialog box appears: 2. Specify Medianning -averaging level in percent. This value determines the blur level of raster image outlines. 3. Specify Threshold - level from 0 to 255. This value determines the clipping level of blurred outlines. As this value increases, the smoothing effect increases but raster lines widen. Use the preview window to adjust the optimal parameter values. * For more information on preview window see page 23. 4. Click OK. 113
