Basic Operation Using the Electronic Dials Operating the < > Dial The < > dial is used to set various settings for taking pictures. There are three ways to operate this dial: (1) While pressing a button, you turn the < > dial until the desired setting appears on the top LCD panel. When the button is released, the respective setting takes effect and the camera can be used to take pictures. • In this way, you can set the shooting mode, AF mode, metering mode, drive mode, ISO speed, or AEB amount. (2) After pressing and releasing a button, you turn the < > dial. When you press a button, its function turns on for 6 sec. During this time, you can turn the < > dial to set the desired setting. After the timer turns off or when you press the shutter button halfway, the camera can be used to take pictures. • In this way, you can set select the AF point or press the < > button and set the exposure compensation amount. (3) Just turn the < > dial. While referring to the top LCD panel, you turn the < > dial to set the desired setting. • In this way, you can set the shutter speed, aperture, etc. 30
