Program AE 1 •Select < > on the LCD panel. While pressing the < > button, turn the < > dial to select < >. Then release the < > button. AF point 2 •Focus the subject. Look through the viewfinder and aim the Area AF ellipse over the subject. Then press the shutter button halfway. s The AF point which achieves focus flashes briefly. At the same time, the green focus confirmation light < > in the viewfinder is displayed. Focus confirmation light Area AF ellipse s The exposure setting will be displayed on the LCD panel and in the viewfinder. • If the focus confirmation light < > in the viewfinder blinks, the shutter will lock and a picture cannot be taken. See "When Autofocus Fails (Manual Focusing)" on page 73. Shutter speed Exposure setting Aperture 3 Make sure the exposure setting is not blinking, then press the shutter button fully to take the picture. AE is an abbreviation for Auto Exposure.
