Using Film Holders Your scanner comes with three different film holders for film and slides. The film holders ensure correct placement of your transparencies and make it easier to scan them. Film has two sides, a shiny base side and a dull emulsion side. The base side of the film has the film maker's name and film ID numbers printed on it. Always place the shiny base side down. 1. To scan 35-mm film strips, 4 × 5-inch film, or 120/220 (6 × 9 cm) film, place the film in the correct holder, as shown: 35-mm strips 4 × 5-inch film 120/220 (6 × 9-cm) film 2.
