EconoMode EconoMode is a toner-saving feature on the device. EconoMode reduces the amount of toner on a printed page, so that the print cartridge lasts longer. The printed result is similar to printing a document in draft mode. ECP Extended capabilities port, a parallel-port standard for computers that supports bidirectional communication between the computer and attached devices (such as a printer). file format The way the contents of a file are structured by a program or group of programs. grayscale Shades of gray that represent light and dark portions of an image when color images are converted to grayscale; colors are represented by various shades of gray. halftone An image type that simulates grayscale by varying the number of dots.
