Caution Caution Caution Managing the Print Cartridge HP Policy on Non-HP Print Cartridges Hewlett-Packard Company cannot recommend use of non-HP print cartridges, either new or remanufactured. Because they are not HP products, HP cannot influence their design or control their quality. Any damage caused by a non-HP print cartridge is not covered under the HP warranty and service agreements. To install a new HP print cartridge, follow the instructions included in the start guide. To replace a HP print cartridge and recycle the used cartridge, follow the instructions included with the new cartridge. Print Cartridge Storage Do not remove the print cartridge from its package until you are ready to use it. (The shelf life of a cartridge in an unopened package is approximately 2.5 years.) To prevent damage to the print cartridge, do not expose it to light for more than a few minutes. Print Cartridge Life Expectancy The life of the print cartridge depends on the amount of toner that print jobs require. When printing text at 5% coverage, an HP print cartridge lasts an average of 10,000 pages. (A typical business letter is about 5% coverage.) This assumes that print density is set to 3 and EconoMode is off. (These are the default settings.) HP does not recommend full-time use of EconoMode. (If EconoMode is used consistently to print media with less than 5% toner coverage, it is possible that the toner supply will outlast the mechanical parts in the print cartridge.)
