Page 104 highlights

Note: See Chapter 7, "Parts listing, Types 8861, 8862," on page 139 to determine which components are replaceable by the customer and which components must be replaced by an IBM field service technician. Light path LED FRU/action CPU (failed microprocessor) Note: Verify correct installation sequence; see "Installing a microprocessor" on page 44. 1. Check event log to determine location of failing LED (microprocessor). 2. Find failing microprocessor by checking LEDs on microprocessor tray assembly. Note: If LED is not visible with microprocessor tray assembly installed, remove assembly and light the failing microprocessor's LED by pressing the light path diagnostics button (see "Installing a microprocessor" on page 44). 3. Microprocessor 1-4. 4. Microprocessor tray assembly. PCI (fault on PCI) 1. Check System Error log. 2. Failing adapter. 3. I/O board. MEM (memory failure) 1. Check event log to determine location of failing LED (DIMM). 2. DIMM. 3. Memory cassette. DASD (fault in hard disk drive or SCSI backplane) Note: If RAID system, refer to Hardware Maintenance Manual for the specific RAID adapter. 1. Failing drive (reseat/replace). 2. Be sure the fans are operating correctly and the air flow is good. 3. SCSI backplane. NR (nonredundancy lost) Note: "Information" LED may also be lit. 1. If PS x LED is lit on light path diagnostics panel, follow instructions for that LED. 2. Failing power supply. NMI (nonmaskable interrupt) 1. See System-Error log. Note: PCI or MEM LEDs may also be lit. 2. If a PCI LED is on, follow the instructions for that LED. 3. If MEM LED is on, follow the instructions for that LED. 4. Restart the server. SP (service processor fault) 1. See System-Error log. 2. Remote Supervisor Adapter II (reseat/replace). 3. I/O board. EXP (device in remote expansion enclosure has failed) Notes: 1. If the amber status LED is on indicating a problem with a device in the remote expansion enclosure, replace the device. 1. Check System-Error log (if log indicates a temperature problem and fans are working correctly, check for air flow blockage). 2. Check light path on remote expansion enclosure. 3. Replace indicated device. 2. Check server error log for indications of a failure in a device installed in the remote expansion enclosure or in the expansion enclosure itself. If the log indicates a problem in the expansion enclosure, see the problem-solving information in the expansion enclosure documentation. 94 IBM xSeries 365 Types 8861, 8862: Hardware Maintenance Manual and Troubleshooting Guide
