Read "Handling static-sensitive devices" on page 30. Complete the following steps to replace the diskette drive: 1. Turn off the server and all peripheral devices; then, disconnect all power cords and external cables. 2. Remove the cover and bezel (see "Removing the cover and bezel" on page 32). 3. Remove the diskette drive cable from the media interposer card by completing the following steps: a. Push the plastic lip on the outer edge of the cable connector toward the rear of the server. b. Remove the cable from the connector. Metal hook Drive retention wire 4. Remove the wire from the right side of the diskette drive. Note: The center of the wire fits into a metal hook. Be sure to return the wire to its position in the hook when replacing the diskette drive. 5. Slide the diskette drive out of the server by pulling it through the front bezel. 6. With the diskette drive out of the server, remove the cable from the diskette drive by pulling up on the cable retention latch. Set this cable aside carefully for reinstallation. 7. Attach the cable that was removed in step 6 to the replacement diskette drive, making sure to close the cable retention latch. 8. Slide the diskette drive into the server through the front bezel, making sure to route the cable in first. 9. When the diskette drive is in place, connect the cable to the media interposer card. a. Diskette drive
This section contains information about removing and replacing the diskette drive.

Complete the following steps to replace the diskette drive:
1.
Turn off the server and all peripheral devices; then, disconnect all power cords
and external cables.
2.
Remove the cover and bezel (see “Removing the cover and bezel” on page
32).
3.
Remove the diskette drive cable from the media interposer card by completing
the following steps:
a.
Push the plastic lip on the outer edge of the cable connector toward the
rear of the server.
b.
Remove the cable from the connector.

Remove the wire from the right side of the diskette drive.
Note:
The center of the wire fits into a metal hook. Be sure to return the wire
to its position in the hook when replacing the diskette drive.
5.
Slide the diskette drive out of the server by pulling it through the front bezel.
6.
With the diskette drive out of the server, remove the cable from the diskette
drive by pulling up on the cable retention latch. Set this cable aside carefully
for reinstallation.
7.
Attach the cable that was removed in step 6 to the replacement diskette drive,
making sure to close the cable retention latch.
8.
Slide the diskette drive into the server through the front bezel, making sure to
route the cable in first.
9.
When the diskette drive is in place, connect the cable to the media interposer
card.
