Adapter retainer bracket assembly This section contains information about removing and replacing the adapter retainer bracket assembly. Note: v v v Read "Installation guidelines" on page 29. Read "Safety information" on page 147. Read "Handling static-sensitive devices" on page 30. Complete the following steps to remove the adapter retainer bracket assembly: 1. Turn off the server and all peripheral devices; then, disconnect all power cords and external cables. 2. Remove the top cover (see "Removing the cover and bezel" on page 32). 3. Lift up the latch mechanism. 4. Remove all adapters and adapter insulators (see "Removing a PCI or PCI-X adapter" on page 36), making sure to place the adapters on a static-protective surface. 5. Disconnect one end of all cables that pass through the adapter bracket assembly; then, remove them from the routing feature of the bracket assembly and fold them out of the way. Latch mechanism Quarter-turn fasteners 6. Turn the two blue quarter-turn fasteners to release the bracket assembly. 7. Lift the bracket assembly out of the server. When replacing the adapter bracket assembly, complete the following steps: 1. Align the two tabs on the bracket assembly with the two slots on the chassis. 2. Set the bracket assembly firmly into place before securing the quarter-turn fasteners. 3. Reconnect the cables that were set aside in step 5 and route them back into the routing feature of the adapter retention assembly. 4. Adapter retainer bracket assembly
This section contains information about removing and replacing the adapter retainer
bracket assembly.
Note:

Complete the following steps to remove the adapter retainer bracket assembly:
1.
Turn off the server and all peripheral devices; then, disconnect all power cords
and external cables.
2.
Remove the top cover (see “Removing the cover and bezel” on page 32).
3.
Lift up the latch mechanism.
4.
Remove all adapters and adapter insulators (see “Removing a PCI or PCI-X
adapter” on page 36), making sure to place the adapters on a static-protective
surface.
5.
Disconnect one end of all cables that pass through the adapter bracket
assembly; then, remove them from the routing feature of the bracket assembly
and fold them out of the way.

6.
Turn the two blue quarter-turn fasteners to release the bracket assembly.
7.
Lift the bracket assembly out of the server.
When replacing the adapter bracket assembly, complete the following steps:
1.
Align the two tabs on the bracket assembly with the two slots on the chassis.
2.
Set the bracket assembly firmly into place before securing the quarter-turn
fasteners.
3.
Reconnect the cables that were set aside in step 5 and route them back into the
routing feature of the adapter retention assembly.
4.
Install the adapters and insulators that were removed in step 4.

When replacing the insulators, make sure that:
