Replacing a System Fan 1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions in "Safety Information" on page 129. 2. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the server. Turn off the server. 3. Disconnect the AC power cord from the server. 4. Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see "Removing the Chassis Cover" on page 24. 5. Disconnect the fan power cable from the server board. 6. Removing a Fixed Fan 7. Set the replacement fan into place. 8. Connect the fan power cable to the server board. 9. Install the chassis cover. For instructions, see "Installing the Chassis Cover" on page 25. 10. Plug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable into the server. 11. Replacing a System Fan
1.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions in
“Safety Information” on page 129

2.
Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the server. Turn off the server.
3.
Disconnect the AC power cord from the server.
4.
Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see
“Removing the Chassis Cover” on
page 24
.
5.
Disconnect the fan power cable from the server board.
6.
Lift the 92-mm fan (see letter “A” in the following figure) or the 120-mm fan (see
letter “B”) from its snap-in bracket.

7.
Set the replacement fan into place.
8.
Connect the fan power cable to the server board.
9.
Install the chassis cover. For instructions, see
“Installing the Chassis Cover” on
page 25
.
10.
Plug all peripheral devices and the AC power cable into the server.
11.
Power up the server.
