Removing a Processor 1. Observe the safety and ESD precautions in "Safety Information" on page 129. 2. Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the server. Turn off the server. 3. Remove the AC power cord from the server. 4. Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see "Removing the Chassis Cover" on page 24. 5. Remove the air duct. For instructions, see "Removing the Processor Air Duct" on page 68. 6. Remove the heatsink. For instructions, see "Removing a Heatsink" on page 77. 7. Push down on the lever attached to the processor socket. While holding the lever down, pull it towards the center of the board to disengage the lever from the hook. Fully open the lever. Removing a Processor
1.
Observe the safety and ESD precautions in

2.
Turn off all peripheral devices connected to the server. Turn off the server.
3.
Remove the AC power cord from the server.
4.
Remove the chassis cover. For instructions, see

5.
Remove the air duct. For instructions, see
“Removing the Processor Air Duct” on
page 68
.
6.
Remove the heatsink. For instructions, see
“Removing a Heatsink” on page 77
.
7.
Push down on the lever attached to the processor socket. While holding the lever
down, pull it towards the center of the board to disengage the lever from the hook.
