Installing or Removing a Heatsink Installing a Heatsink Caution: • If you have removed the processor from the socket, thoroughly clean the thermal grease from the underside of the heatsink before re-installing the heatsink over the processor socket. If you are installing a replacement processor, clean the thermal grease and reapply thermal grease. • The server system must be operated with both heatsinks installed, even if only a single processor is installed. • Use only the heatsinks that were shipped with the server system. Do not use the heatsink that shipped with the boxed processor in this server system. Use the following steps to install a heatsink. 1. Caution:

processor socket. If you are installing a replacement processor, clean the thermal
