Understanding the printer menus 93 Use Parity Even Odd None Ignore Honor DSR On Off To Set the parity for serial input and output data frames. Note: None is the factory default setting. Determine whether the printer uses the DSR Signal. Notes: • Off is the factory default setting. • DSR is a handshaking signal used by most serial cables. The serial port uses DSR to distinguish data sent by the computer from data created by electrical noise in the serial cable. The electrical noise can cause stray characters to print. Set this to On to prevent stray characters from printing. SMTP Setup menu Use Primary SMTP Gateway Primary SMTP Gateway Port Secondary SMTP Gateway Secondary SMTP Gateway Port SMTP Timeout 5-30 Reply Address Use SSL Disabled Negotiate Required SMTP Server Authentication No authentication required Login/Plain CRAM‑MD5 Digest‑MD5 NTLM Kerberos 5 To Specify SMTP server gateway and port information. Note: 25 is the default SMTP gateway port. Specify the amount of time in seconds before the server stops trying to send an e‑mail. Note: 30 seconds is the factory default setting. Specify a reply address of up to 128 characters in the e-mail sent by the printer. Set the printer to use SSL for increased security when connecting to the SMTP server. Notes: • Disabled is the factory default setting. • When the Negotiate setting is used, the SMTP server determines if SSL will be used. Specify the type of user authentication required for scan‑to e‑mail privileges. Note: "No authentication required" is the factory default setting.
