M4300 Series and M4300-96X Fully Managed Switches Regular data arriving on the switch is given the default priority of the port (default 0), and the voice traffic is received with higher priority. This segregates both the traffic to provide better service to the voice traffic. The switch can be configured to override the data traffic CoS. This feature enables overriding the 802.1P priority of the data traffic packets arriving at the port enabled for voice VLAN. Thus, a rogue client that is also connected to the voice VLAN port does not deteriorate the voice traffic. The table below describes how does PVID and tagging are handled by voice VLAN in the four modes. Table 1. If the user want higher priority for voice traffic, user needs to manually configure it. This priority (dot1p) is conveyed from the Voice device as part of VLAN tag in the VoIP traffic. The user is not expected to configure any CoS on the port. • The user needs to configure dot1p priority value (e.g. 5). This value will be communicated to the VoIP device over LLDP. • Priority advertised is 0 by default • No need to set PVID for voice but may needed for data VLAN 4000. Regular data arriving on the switch is given the default priority of the port (default 0), and the

voice traffic is received with higher priority. This segregates both the traffic to provide better

service to the voice traffic.

The switch can be configured to override the data traffic CoS. This feature enables overriding

the 802.1P priority of the data traffic packets arriving at the port enabled for voice VLAN.

Thus, a rogue client that is also connected to the voice VLAN port does not deteriorate the

voice traffic.

The table below describes how does PVID and tagging are handled by voice VLAN in the

four modes.
