M4300 Series and M4300-96X Fully Managed Switches Expand a 40G Port on an APM402XL Port Card to Four 10G Ports The APM402XL port card provides two 40G port in which you can install QSFP+ interface modules. You can expand each single 40G port to four 10G ports. The total number of supported ports on the APM402XL port card is eight. Expanding ports does not change this total number. The APM402XL port card follows a fixed port-numbering scheme for the 40G ports and the expanded 10G ports: • Ports1 and 5 are designated as 40G ports. If you use the hardware profile portmode command, port 1 (//1) and port 5 (//5) are designated as 40G ports. By default, when you insert an APM402XL port card, ports 1 and 5 are enabled at 40G speed. All other ports (that is, ports 2,3,4 and ports 6,7,8) remain detached or disabled. • Ports 1, 2, 3, and 4 become enabled and operate at 10G speed if you expand port 1. • Ports 5, 6, 7, and 8 become enabled and operate at 10G speed if you expand port 5. • All ports, that is, ports 1 through 8, become enabled and operate at 10G speed if you expand both ports 1 and 5. After you expanded one or both ports to four 10G ports, you can also use the hardware profile portmode command or the local browser interface to return the ports to 40G.
