NOTES • Depending on your service provider, it may not be possible to use the emergency key 9 feature to make an emergency call if: the feature has not been activated; Keyguard is active (see "Activate keyguard" on page 58 .); your phone is locked (see "Lock and unlock your phone" on page 57.); or you set up a call restriction that will not allow the call (see "Restrict outgoing calls" on page 60.). • Depending on your service provider, you may be able to make an emergency call manually by entering the emergency number at the screen and then pressing , regardless of your phone settings. • For more safety information about making emergency calls, see "Emergency calls" on page 107. Make an emergency call There are two ways to use the emergency key 9 feature to make an emergency call: • Press , then . • Press and hold until the phone indicates it is attempting to make an emergency call. When you make an emergency call, your phone changes to emergency call mode. If you exit this mode, emergency operators may not be able to contact you. Keep your phone in emergency call mode until emergency personnel arrive on the scene. In emergency call mode, some menu items may not be available. To exit emergency call mode, at the Start screen, press Exit. When the question Restore normal service? appears, press OK. [ 54 ]
