WHITE BALANCE Adjustment of white balance is for color compensation so that a white subject can be recorded white without reference to the color of the light source. After white balance has been adjusted, that setting will be maintained for approximately 3 hours after the power has been turned off. However, if light conditions change, white balance should be reset for the best results. When adjusting white balance outdoors, more accurate adjustment can be made by setting the white balance in accordance with the light conditions the subject will be taped under. For example, if the subject will be taped in sunlight, put the white lens cap on the lens hood and point the camera toward the sun. If the subject will be taped in shadows, white balance should also be adjusted in shadows. 17
