Page 20 highlights

CLOSE-UPS (Macro) Use of the macro function allows the camera to approach the subject almost to the lens, so that even tiny objects can literally fill the screen for dramatic close-up effects. This allows you to discover aspects of the subject that would otherwise be "impossible". To remove the lens hood, turn it in a counterclockwise direction. 2 While keeping the MACRO set button pressed, turn the zoom ring to the MACRO position. 3 Select the subject size in the scene by changing the distance between the subject and lens. The recorder can move to a subject as close as 5 mm (7/32 in.) from the lens surface. 4 Focus by turning the manual zoom lever. Notes on macro shooting • When shooting in macro, the depth of field is very shallow, so pay attention to focus. To keep the subject in focus, use a tripod or monopod. • Zooming is not possible during macro recording. To change the size of the subject, move the lens closer or further away from It. USE OF THE MICROPHONE 43009:fiT00,0:4 0066*04F..., The supplied microphone is a uni-directional monaural type. The sharp directivity of this microphone allows the subject being taped to be simultaneously recorded with natural sound quality. For best results when using the supplied microphone, keep the following points in mind. • When the scene is very quiet, camera operation noises (using the zoom lever, etc.) may be picked up. • Sounds of subjects far from the camera will not be picked up. 20
