Adaptec Ultra320 SCSI Cards User's Guide Installing the Driver When UnixWare/Open Unix is Already Installed To update or install the adpu320 driver on a system where UnixWare/Open Unix is already installed, follow the instructions in this section. ! Caution: Improper or corrupt driver updates might destroy your existing UnixWare/Open Unix file system. Back up all important files before proceeding. Consult your UnixWare/ Open Unix documentation for proper backup procedures. Installing or updating the driver involves the following tasks, which must be completed in the following order: 1 Back up the Kernel-Backs up the old UnixWare/Open Unix kernel and any other important files. 2 Load the Package-Uses pkgadd to load the Ultra320 driver package by typing: sdiconfig -l locate the device node for your CD drive, for example, c1b0t1l0, then type: pkgadd -d /dev/cdrom/c1b0t1l0 where c1b0t1l0 is the device node. 3 Rebuild the UnixWare/Open Unix Kernel-Rebuilds the kernel with the new driver by typing: init 6 4 Boot the New Kernel-Restarts the computer with the new kernel. Note: Remember that UnixWare/Open Unix commands are case sensitive. Enter the commands exactly as shown. 11-4
