Managing the MAC Address Table (CLI) This section provides information about the commands you use to manage the MAC address table on the switch. For more information about the commands, see the PowerConnect 7000 Series CLI Reference Guide. Managing the MAC Address Table Beginning in Privileged EXEC mode, use the following commands to add a static MAC address to the table, control the aging time for dynamic addresses, and view entries in the MAC address table. Command Purpose configure Enter global configuration mode. mac address-table static Add a static MAC source address to the MAC address mac-address vlan vlan-id table. interface interface • mac-address - A valid MAC address in the format xxxx.xxxx.xxxx. • vlan-id -A valid VLAN. • interface - A valid port or LAG, including the interface type and number. mac address-table aging- Specify the number of seconds that must pass before an time {0 | 10-1000000} unused dynamically-learned MAC address is removed from the MAC address table. A value of 0 disables the aging time for the MAC address table. exit Exit to Privileged EXEC mode. show mac address-table View information about the entries in the MAC address [static | dynamic] table. Use the keywords static or dynamic to specify the address type to view. For dynamic entries, you can use the clear mac addresstable command to remove entries from the table. show mac address-table View information about the MAC addresses that have {vlan vlan | interface been configured or learned on the switch, a specific VLAN, interface [vlan vlan-id]} or an interface (Ethernet port or LAG/port-channel). show mac address-table View information about the number of addresses that have count [{vlan vlan-id been configured or learned on the switch, a specific VLAN, |interface interface}] or an interface (Ethernet port or LAG/port-channel). 842 Managing the MAC Address Table
