Replacing the system board Replacing the system board To replace the system board: 1 Follow the instructions in "Preventing static electricity discharge" on page 41. 2 Follow the instructions in "Opening the server case" on page 42. 3 Remove the memory modules. For more information, see "Installing memory" on page 66. 4 Remove all of the expansion cards. For more information, see "Installing PCI expansion cards" on page 69. 5 Remove the heat sinks and processors. For more information, see "Installing a processor" on page 73. 6 Disconnect the power and data cables from the system board, noting their locations and orientation.
