Chapter 4: Installing Components Replacing the front panel board To replace the front panel board: 1 Follow the instructions in "Preventing static electricity discharge" on page 41. 2 Follow the instructions in "Opening the server case" on page 42. 3 Follow the instructions in "Removing the bezel assembly" on page 44. 4 Disconnect the front panel cable from the front panel board. Front panel cable Chassis intrusion switch cable Screw Screw Chassis intrusion switch header Screw 5 Disconnect the chassis intrusion switch cable from the front panel board (if connected). - OR - If your server is rack mounted and has the suitcase jumper on the chassis intrusion switch header on the front panel board, remove and retain the jumper. 6 Remove and retain the three screws securing the board to the chassis. 7 Remove the front panel board from the chassis. 8 Attach the front panel cable to the new front panel board. Important Make sure the pins on the front panel board line up correctly with the front panel cable connector. 90 www.gateway.com

Replacing the front panel board
To replace the front panel board:

Follow the instructions in
“Preventing static electricity discharge” on page 41
.

Follow the instructions in
“Opening the server case” on page 42
.

Follow the instructions in
“Removing the bezel assembly” on page 44
.

Disconnect the front panel cable from the front panel board.

Disconnect the chassis intrusion switch cable from the front panel board (if
connected).
- OR -
If your server is rack mounted and has the suitcase jumper on the chassis intrusion
switch header on the front panel board, remove and retain the jumper.

Remove and retain the three screws securing the board to the chassis.
7
Remove the front panel board from the chassis.
8
Attach the front panel cable to the new front panel board.
Important
Make sure the pins on the front panel board line up correctly with
the front panel cable connector.
