Resetting the BIOS Resetting BIOS passwords To reset BIOS password(s), you must either reset and clear all BIOS settings, or use the Password Clear jumper. To reset BIOS passwords, follow the instructions in "Resetting the BIOS" on page 105. To clear the BIOS password(s): 1 Turn off the server, then disconnect the power cords and all other cables connected to the server. 2 Follow the instructions in "Opening the server case" on page 42. Caution Moving the jumper while the power is on can damage your server. Always turn off the server and unplug the power cords and all other cables before changing the jumper. 3 Remove the jumper across pins 5-6 of header J1D1, then place the jumper across pins 6-7. Resetting BIOS passwords
To reset BIOS password(s), you must either reset and clear all BIOS settings, or use the

To clear the BIOS password(s):

Turn off the server, then disconnect the power cords and all other cables connected
to the server.

Remove the jumper across pins 5-6 of header J1D1, then place the jumper across
pins 6-7.

Follow the instructions in
“Closing the server case” on page 52

Reconnect the power cords and turn on the server. The BIOS password(s) is cleared.
Caution
Moving the jumper while the power is on can damage your server.
