Chapter 4: Installing Components 2 If a drive has failed, determine which drive has failed by running storage console software. SCSI Drives - Match the software's SCSI ID for the failed drive with the SCSI ID number to the left of the hot-swap bays. SATA Drives - Match the indicated drive or port number for the failed drive with the controller card or connector, as well as the connector and cables on the back of the drive cage, to determine which drive has failed. See the system label inside your server for information on identifying the SATA connector and the corresponding drive. Caution Before you remove a failed drive, use the appropriate software and utilities installed on the server to stop all activity on the failed drive. Instructions for using the software are provided by the software manufacturer. Failure to do so may destroy the data on the drive. 60 www.gateway.com
