Microsoft Windows Sharing (peer-to-peer networking) Windows Sharing (peer-to-peer networking) is a feature of the Microsoft operating system that allows network computers that are not directly connected to the product to print to the HP LaserJet M9040 MFP and HP LaserJet M9050 MFP. When using Windows sharing, the HP LaserJet M9040 MFP and HP LaserJet M9050 MFP printer driver must be installed and configured on both the host computer as well as any network computers that will print to the product. NOTE: Windows Sharing is a feature of Microsoft operating systems, not of HP printer drivers. Click the Start button, click the Settings option, and then click Printers option. 2. In the printer list, right-click the icon for the product you want to share, and then click the Sharing option. 3. On the Sharing tab, click the Share As option, and then type a name for the product in the Share Name text box. Click the OK button. Setting up the host computer running Windows XP 1. On the Start menu, click one of the following options: Printers and Faxes (Windows XP Professional) -or- Printers and Other Hardware Devices (Windows XP Home) 2. In the printer list, right-click the icon for the product you want to share, and then click the Sharing option. 3. On the Sharing tab, click the Share this printer option, and then type a name for the product in the Share Name text box. Click the OK button. 4. Click the Ports tab.
