Programmer's Tips Developing Library Manager Software Error Detection The first step in any error recovery is detection. The error codes returned from the SCSI commands allow the autochanger manager software to know if there is a hardware error, restored error, or recovered error. • Hardware errors ASC = 15 ASCQ = 01 Key = 04: Are not recoverable, all moves will be blocked. • Restored errors ASC = 15 ASCQ = 00 Key = 04: Got the media back in the state before move, but something is wrong with one of the elements. Other moves might be able to complete successfully. • Recovered errors ASC = 0 ASCQ = 00 Key = 01: The unit should be able to continue successfully. B- 22 Appendix B
