Basic operations POWER TNDBWRECEIVED rF SPEAKERS MAIN REMOTE SELECTIVE TONE E=1 BASS TREBLE • • • BALANCE DIMMER =3 j PHONES 4IMMINIMIEMER, Power button and Stand-by/Received indicator If your TX-SV636 is not a European model: The STAND-BY/RECEIVED indicator lights up when the power cord connected to this unit is plugged into an AC wall outlet. This indicates that the unit is in Standby mode, ready t0r operation. To turn on the unit fully, press the POWER button. The display will light up and the STAND-BY/RECEIVED indicator will go off. If your TX-SV636 is a European model: Press the POWER hutton to turn on this unit. The display will light up. Press the POWER button on the remote controller to put this unit in Standby mode. The STAND-BY/ RECEIVED indicator will light up. The STAND-BY/RECEIVED indicator also flashes when a ignal is received from the remote controller. Speakers selector MAIN: This button turns on or ()If the speakers connected to the FRONT MAIN. CENTER and REAR SPEAKERS terminals. When the speakers are turned on. the MAIN indicator lights up. REMOTE: This button turns on or off the speakers connected to the FRONT REMOTE SPEAKERS terminals. When the speakers are turned on. the REMOTE indicator lights up. Turn on these speakers when using multi source. (See pages 42 and 43.) Adjusting the tone Treble. Bass and Selective Tone are effectkc only for the Front Main speakers. The hest results are obtained from DOLBY PRO LOGIC Surround when the Center and Front speakers contain the same amounts of mid and high frequencies. As the Treble and Bass control do not affect the Center speaker. adjust the tone controls for the Front Iclt and right speakers to match the sound given by the Center speaker. Because of this, we recommend the use of a good quality Center speaker. BASS: Adjust to strengthen or weaken bass response. TREBLE: Adjust to strengthen or weaken treble response. SELECTIVE TONE: This control is used to clearly reproduce ultra low and high frequencies, and only affects the Front speakers. When this control button is pressed. the SELECTIVE TONE indicator lights up. Adjusting the balance The BALANCE control is used to control the relative volume levels of the Front Main speakers. Dimmer button This button can he used to change the brightness of the display. The brightness changes in four steps: bright, medium. dim. off. Using headphones Stereo headphones with a standard binaural (stereo) plug can he connected to the PHONES jack. The sound heard through the headphones is the sound from the Front speakers. but may sound a little different to what was heard from the speakers (it may sound relatively far away). 23
