Ceoter Mode Center Mode=PHANTCM Setting the Theater surround parameters You ._an achieve the same kind of sound in your room that you experience in a movie theater by adding a DSP sound field effect. (Refer to page 5 for details) I. Use the DSP MODE button to select THEATER. • Each time the DSP button is pressed the mode changes. • If the center mode was selected while in another surround mode, there is no need to change it. 2. Perform Steps 3 through 9 of the procedure entitled "Setting the Dolby Pro Logic surround parameters" on page 36. 3. Select Theater size. Refer to the Explanation 5 on the page 40 for details. Adjust the Surround speakers. Refer to the Explanation 6 on the page 40 for details. Adjust the effect level, Reverb level and Reverb time. Refer to the Explanation 7 on the page 41 for details. Setting the Hall, Live and Arena surround parameters 1. Use the DSP MODE button to select either HALL, LIVE or ARENA. • If the center mode was selected while in another surround mode, there is no need to change it. 2. Perform Steps 3, 4, 5 and 7 of the procedure entitled "Setting the Dolby Pro Logic surround parameters." on page 36. • The test tone function is not provided with these surround mode. 3. Select Hall size. Refer to the Explanation 5 on the page 40 for details. Select Hall shape. Refer to the Explanation 8 on the page 41 for details. Adjust the effect level, Reverb level and Reverb time. Refer to the Explanation 7 on the page 41 for details. Because of the center speaker plays such an important part in Dolby Pro Logic Surround, three different modes are available for it, depending on its size. On-screen Move the cursor to Center Mode using A or V cursor button and press the -4 or O. cursor button to select center mode. (See page 35) • When you have fi nished center mode setting. move the cursor to ESC using the A or V cursor button and press the ENTER button. • The center mode cannot he set independently for each surround mode, so the settings you make hear will affect every surround mode. NORMAL: Use this setting when using a center speaker smaller than the L and R stereo speakers. The center speaker will not be sent frequencies below 100Hz. and these will be split between the front L and R speakers. WIDEBAND: Use this setting when using a center speaker similar to the L and R stereo speakers in size and power. The center speaker will receive the full frequency range. PHANTOM: Use this setting when a center speaker is not present. The sound that would have been sent to the center speaker will not he split between the front L and R speakers, producing a similar result. 37
