Backing Up ■ Microsoft Information Store or Microsoft Site Replication Services or Microsoft Key Management Services-select these levels to back up the selected applications. ■ Storage Groups or Individual Databases-select these levels to back up selected Storage Groups or individual databases in a Storage Group ■ Microsoft Exchange Server-Brick Level-select this level to back up all mailboxes and public folders for a server. We do not recommend backing up all the mailboxes and folders because of the inefficiency of this method. Expand this object to back up individual mailboxes and folders. Important! To browse brick level individual mailboxes, the database containing the service account mailbox must be mounted. We recommend that you create multiple service accounts and mailboxes on different databases (for clusters, on different virtual servers as well). This allows you to run the Exchange Agent Configuration utility to reconfigure the Backup Agent with a different service account and mailbox on a mounted database. Once you have reconfigured the Backup Agent with a different service account and mailbox, you must restart the Backup Agent RPC Service. Only the mailboxes of mounted databases are shown. To select an object to back up, click the green box to the left of the object name. The box is filled when the object is selected, or partially filled when parts of the object are selected. Resubmitting Jobs If you submit a scheduled backup of an organization, and changes are subsequently made to the organization, you must resubmit the job. For example, if you submit a scheduled backup of an organization and servers are then added or removed, the job must be resubmitted. BrightStor ARCserve Backup does not recognize servers that have changed since the job was submitted. Backing Up To back up is to create a copy of a database or database objects on storage media. On BrightStor ARCserve Backup, the Backup Manager allows you to perform backups of your data. The Backup Agent is an optional feature that allows BrightStor ARCserve Backup to back up Microsoft Exchange Server databases or database objects, while still online, either locally or remotely. The default locations of the database files for the Information Store first storage group, the KMS, and the SRS are in the following subdirectories of the Microsoft Exchange Server home directory: \MDBDATA \KMSDATA Using the Backup Agent on Exchange 2000 3-7
