I OUTLINE hp Color 9850mfp OUTLINE OF SYSTEM Special media specifications Label specifications CAUTION To avoid damaging the printer, use only labels that are recommended for laser printers. Never print on the same sheet of labels more than once and never print on a partial sheet of labels. When selecting labels, consider the quality of each component: z Adhesives: The adhesive material should be stable at 200 C (392 F), which is the MFP fusing temperature. z Arrangement: Do not use labels that have exposed backing between them. Labels can peel off sheets with spaces between the labels, causing jams. z Curl: Prior to printing, labels must lie flat with no more than 13 mm (0.5 inch) of curl in any direction. z Condition: Do not use labels that have wrinkles, bubbles, or other indications of separation. Note Use only the bypass tray to print on labels. Feed one by one. Send labels straight through the printer, entering at the bypass tray and exiting from the exit tray. Carrier sheet exposed only in vertical columns Note Card stock construction When selecting card stock, consider the quality of each component: z Smoothness: 135- to 220-g/m2 (36- to 58-lb bond) card stock should have a smoothness rating of 100 to 180 Sheffield. z Curl: Card stock should lie flat with less than 5 mm (0.2 inch) of curl. z Condition: Make sure that the card stock is not wrinkled, nicked, or otherwise damaged. z Size: See Supported media and capacity for input and output on page 1-10. z Weight: Card stock of 200 g/m2 (53 lb) or less can be loaded in any tray. Card stock heavier than 200 g/m2 (53 lb) must be printed from the bypass tray. When printing on card stock, make sure to set the CARDSTOCK type at the control panel when you load the tray, and in the printer driver when you print your print job. 1-13
