To use the Windows 95 Add/Remove Programs utility: 1 Click Start on the Windows 95 taskbar. 2 Select Settings. 3 Click Control Panel. 4 Double-click Add/Remove Programs. 5 Click the program you want to remove. 6 Click Add/Remove. 7 Click OK. Removing Icons from the Windows 95 Desktop There are two types of icons, and they are removed differently: x Shortcut icons These are identified by an arrow in the lower-left corner of the icon. You can drag them to the Recycle Bin. (Icons created by installing new programs are shortcuts.) x Program icons Some icons, such as the Microsoft Recycle Bin and My Computer icons, are not removable.
