4 OPERATING THE SWITCH Turning the Switch On and Off To provide power to the switch for the first time, refer to "Providing Initial Power to the Switch" on page 31. To turn on the switch: • Verify both power cords are connected to the AC power connectors on the port side of the chassis, and flip both green AC power switches to "1". The green AC power switches illuminate when on. To turn off the switch: • Flip both AC power switches to "O". To remove all sources of power from the switch, disconnect both cables from the power source. Note Removing all power from the switch triggers a system reset. When power is restored, all devices are returned to the initial state and the switch runs POST, which is complete when LED activity stops. To skip POST, use the fastboot command. For more information about this command, refer to the hp StorageWorks fabric os reference. A fast boot requires approximately two minutes to complete. 45
