Switch Manager Configuration wizard The Configuration wizard is a series of dialog boxes you can use to configure the IP address and other basic parameters on new or replacement switches. Switch Manager detects the first time use and present the Initial Start Dialog-Switch Manager dialog box, from which the Configuration wizard can be launched. You can also launch the Configuration wizard from the Wizards menu in either the topology display or the faceplate display by opening the Wizards menu, and then selecting Configuration Wizard. Switch properties To open the Switch Properties dialog box, either select a switch in the topology display or open the faceplate display for the switch you are configuring, and then select Switch > Switch Properties. You may also right-click a switch graphic in the topology display or faceplate display, and then select Switch Properties from the menu. Use the Switch Properties dialog box to change the following switch configuration parameters: ■ Symbolic Name parameter ■ Administrative State parameter ■ Domain ID and Domain ID Lock parameters ■ Broadcast Support parameter ■ In-band Management parameter ■ Interop Mode parameter ■ Legacy Address Format parameter The timeout values are displayed only for reference purposes when the switch is online; they become active when the switch is taken offline. After making changes, click OK to put the new values into effect. Figure 26: Switch Properties dialog box Symbolic Name parameter The symbolic name is a user-defined name of up to 32 characters that identifies the switch. The symbolic name is used in the topology and faceplate displays, as well as many data windows to more easily identify switches. Configuration wizard
The Configuration wizard is a series of dialog boxes you can use to configure the IP address
and other basic parameters on new or replacement switches. Switch Manager detects the first
time use and present the Initial Start Dialog—Switch Manager dialog box, from which the
Configuration wizard can be launched. You can also launch the Configuration wizard from the
Wizards
menu in either the topology display or the faceplate display by opening the
Wizards
menu, and then selecting
Configuration Wizard
.
Switch properties
To open the Switch Properties dialog box, either select a switch in the topology display or
open the faceplate display for the switch you are configuring, and then select
Switch > Switch
Properties
. You may also right-click a switch graphic in the topology display or faceplate
display, and then select
Switch Properties
from the menu.
Use the Switch Properties dialog box to change the following switch configuration
parameters:
Symbolic Name parameter
Administrative State parameter
Domain ID and Domain ID Lock parameters
Broadcast Support parameter
In-band Management parameter
Interop Mode parameter
Legacy Address Format parameter
