(p. 94) The file size of a photo recorded on DVD-RAM disc in "N" status is equal to or larger than that recorded on card using the FINE quality in "P". * JPEG: Joint Photographic Experts Group. JPEG is one of the photo image compression standards. It is widely used in digital still cameras since JPEG files can be used on ordinary PC. When this DVD video camera/recorder records on DVDRAM disc in "N" status, a JPEG photo will be recorded, along with a photo that conforms to the DVD video recording (DVD-VR) format which is used to be output to TV (see "Terminology", p. 155). Only JPEG photos will be recorded on SD memory card. Note: • No still can be recorded on DVD-R disc. • Since the file size is restricted in all quality modes when recording photos on card (P), the quality of photos on card may be inferior to those recorded on DVD-RAM disc (N).
