6. Continue unscrewing until there is no longer any resistance. 7. Slide the assembly out. 8. After the assembly is removed from the chassis, place it in the protective anti-static bag that came with the new system board. Note: The system board of the 2109 Model S16 Switch contains a lithium battery. Read the following battery notice caution: Battery notice caution CAUTION: The controller card contains a lithium battery. To avoid possible explosion, do not burn, exchange, or charge the battery. Discard the controller card as instructed by local regulations for lithium batteries. (RSFTC228) A lithium battery can cause fire, explosion, or a severe burn. Do not recharge, disassemble, heat above 100°C (212°F), solder directly to the cell, incinerate, or expose cell contents to water. Keep away from children. Replace only with the part number specified for your system. Use of another battery may present a risk of fire or explosion. The battery connector is polarized; do not attempt to reverse the polarity. Dispose of the battery according to local regulations. Installing the system board 1. Align the system board assembly with the mounting screw on the bottom. 2. Gently slide the system board assembly into the chassis. 3. Turn the mounting screw on the front panel clockwise. Notice the assembly slowly moving into the chassis while the copper connectors on the sides become less exposed. 4. Continue turning the screw until it no longer moves. 5. Install the power supplies. See "Replacing the power supply" on page 45. 6. Go to "Verifying switch repair" on page 51. Note: If the switch that you replaced the system board in is the only switch in the fabric (there are no cascading switches) and the customer is using zoning, then the customer needs to reconfigure zoning. Replacing the chassis with touchpad Replacing the chassis assembly with touchpad, as shown in Figure 22 on page 51, involves removing the existing fan assembly, power supply, and system board, and then installing a new assembly. Tools that are required The following tools are required: A number 2 Phillips head screwdriver. A number 4 flat head screwdriver. 50 IBM SAN Fibre Channel Switch: 2109 Model S16 Installation and Service Guide
