Follow any special handling and installation instructions supplied with the battery. 3. Turn off the server (see "Turning off the server" on page 9) and all attached devices and disconnect all power cords and external cables; then, remove the server cover (see "Removing the server left-side cover and bezel (tower model)" on page 55 or "Removing the server top cover and bezel (rack configuration)" on page 57). 4. Lift the adapter-retention bracket on top of the adapter-support bracket; then, remove the full-length adapters and plastic dividers (see "Working with adapters" on page 60). 5. Remove the plastic shield covering the bottom portion of the system board. 6. Locate the battery (connector BH1) on the system board. Remove the battery: a. Use one finger to press the top of the battery clip away from the battery until the battery releases upward from the socket. b. Lift and remove the battery from the socket. 8. Insert the new battery: a. Tilt the battery so that you can insert it into the socket on the side opposite the battery clip. b. Press the battery down into the socket until it clicks into place. Remove
the
battery:
a.
Use
one
finger

the

of
the
battery

battery

the

b.

remove
the
battery

the

8.
Insert
the
new
battery:
a.

the
battery
so

you

Press
the

Make
sure
the
battery
