Using the Scan Functions 8 Binary Division and Scanned File Separation The behavior of e-mail transmission varies depending on the combination of the Binary Division and the Scanned File Separation (refer to "Basic Setup of the Scan Functions" on page 8-11) settings. Scanned File Separation: Yes and Binary Division: Yes Scanned File Separation: Yes and Binary Division: No Scanned File Separation: No and Binary Division: Yes Scanned File Separation: No and Binary Division: No If the scanned data exceeds the Maximum E-mail Size setting, the data is divided in units of pages. If the data size of each page after page division exceeds the Maximum E-mail Size setting, the data is divided further at the binary level so that the maximum size is not exceeded. If the scanned data exceeds the Maximum E-mail Size setting, the data is divided in units of pages. If the data size of each page after page division exceeds the Maximum E-mail Size setting, the data is discarded. If the scanned data exceeds the Maximum E-mail Size setting, the data is divided at the binary level so that the maximum size is not exceeded. If the scanned data exceeds the Maximum E-mail Size setting, the data is discarded. ✎ Note If multiple pages are scanned when a hard disk is not installed, the mail is sent in units of pages regardless of the Scanned File Separation setting. Combining (restoring) binary divided data When scanned data that has been binary divided is received, the data can be combined using an e-mail client software that has a function to do this. For details, refer to the manual or help for your e-mail client software. 8-43
