Recovering a computer 193 About viewing properties of recovery points and drives 6 Type the address of the computer that you want to ping on the network segment. 7 Click OK. If you specified a computer name or a computer name and domain as the address method, make note of the IP address that is returned from the computer that you pinged. If communication to the storage computer is operating as expected, you can use the Map Network Drive utility to map a drive to the recovery point location. Getting a static IP address if pinging is unsuccessful If you ping an address and the address does not respond, you can use the ipconfig /all command to determine the correct IP address. To get an IP address if the ping is unsuccessful 1 On the computer that contains the recovery point that you want to restore, at a DOS prompt, type the following command, and then press Enter. ipconfig /all 2 Write down the IP address that is displayed. 3 Return to the computer that is running the recovery environment and run the utility Ping Remote Computer with this IP address.
