Chapter 6 Preliminary Hardware Verification The NetServer Power is On, but There is No Display on the Monitor Check the following: 1. Make sure the monitor cable is connected to the VGA connector at the rear of the NetServer. 2. If no messages appear on the control panel LCD, or if the LCD message stays at System Power is On, then do the following: a. Turn off the NetServer and disconnect the AC power cord. b. Check that your processor and terminators are installed correctly. Reseat the processor and terminators if necessary. 3. If the NetServer beeps with a beep code of 1-3-3-1, then make sure that the memory boards are installed correctly and the DIMMs are securely seated. 4. After making necessary corrections, reconnect the AC power cord and power on the NetServer again. If nothing displays on the monitor or on the control panel LCD, do the following: a. Turn off the NetServer and disconnect the AC power cord. b. Make certain all boards are installed correctly. Reseat them as necessary. 5. If you have made all corrections suggested in steps 1 through 4, and messages still do not appear on the monitor or LCD, call your service representative. The NetServer Power is On, but System Information Does Not Match Hardware l If the memory does not match what is installed in the NetServer: a. Make sure you have installed HP-supported SDRAM DIMMs. b. Make sure you did not move DIMMs from your NetServer LXr 8000 to the LXr 8500. c. Check that the DIMMs are seated firmly in the memory boards. 66

The NetServer Power is On, but There is No Display on the Monitor
Check the following:
1.
Make sure the monitor cable is connected to the VGA connector at the rear
of the NetServer.
2.
If no messages appear on the control panel LCD, or if the LCD message
stays at
System Power is On
, then do the following:
a.
Turn off the NetServer and disconnect the AC power cord.
b.
Check that your processor and terminators are installed correctly.
Reseat the processor and terminators if necessary.
3.
If the NetServer beeps with a beep code of 1-3-3-1, then make sure that the
memory boards are installed correctly and the DIMMs are securely seated.
4.
After making necessary corrections, reconnect the AC power cord and
power on the NetServer again. If nothing displays on the monitor or on the
control panel LCD, do the following:
a.
Turn off the NetServer and disconnect the AC power cord.
b.
Make certain all boards are installed correctly. Reseat them as
necessary.
5.
If you have made all corrections suggested in steps 1 through 4, and
messages still do not appear on the monitor or LCD, call your service
representative.
The NetServer Power is On, but System Information Does Not Match
Hardware
If the memory does not match what is installed in the NetServer:
a.
Make sure you have installed HP-supported SDRAM DIMMs.
b.
Make sure you did not move DIMMs from your NetServer LXr 8000 to
the LXr 8500.
c.
Check that the DIMMs are seated firmly in the memory boards.
