Decide where to place each accessory board using these guidelines (see Figure 5-8 for slot location): ◊ Install 5V boards in slots 1 through 6. ◊ Install 3.3V boards in slots 7 through 10. ◊ Install Universal boards in any open slot. (Universal boards are dual mode and can be used in either 3.3V and 5V slots.) ◊ All slots support 32-bit and 64-bit PCI boards. ◊ Slots 7-10 are 66 MHz capable, but will also allow 33-MHz 3V or Universal boards. When there are 33- and 66-MHz boards on the same bus, the entire bus, and all boards on it, run at 33 MHz. ◊ All slots are hot-plug capable (if your network operating system supports this feature). ◊ Consider the NetServer's boot order when selecting a PCI slot on the I/O baseboard. If you are installing a SCSI controller board, the priority of the controllers (where the BIOS will search for the boot drive) is set by the board's slot location. NOTE

Install 5V boards in slots 1 through 6.
Install 3.3V boards in slots 7 through 10.
Install Universal boards in any open slot. (Universal boards are dual
mode and can be used in either 3.3V and 5V slots.)
All slots support 32-bit and 64-bit PCI boards.
Slots 7-10 are 66 MHz capable, but will also allow 33-MHz 3V or
Universal boards. When there are 33- and 66-MHz boards on the same
bus, the entire bus, and all boards on it, run at 33 MHz.
All slots are hot-plug capable (if your network operating system
supports this feature).
Consider the NetServer’s boot order when selecting a PCI slot on the
I/O baseboard. If you are installing a SCSI controller board, the priority
of the controllers (where the BIOS will search for the boot drive) is set
by the board’s slot location. See the
