Chapter 4 Configuring Settings on the Cisco Unified IP Phone Device Configuration Menu Table 4-17 Network Configuration Menu Options (continued) Option CDP: SW Port Description To Change Indicates whether CDP is enabled on the switch port (default is enabled). • Enable CDP on the switch port for VLAN assignment for the phone, power negotiation, QoS management, and 802.1x security. From Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration, choose Device > Phone. • Enable CDP on the switch port when the phone is connected to a Cisco switch. Note When CDP is disabled in Cisco Unified Communications Manager, a warning is presented, indicating that CDP should be disabled on the switch port only if the phone is connected to a non-Cisco switch. LLDP: PC Port LLDP-MED: SW Port The current PC and switch port CDP values are shown on the Settings menu. Enables and disables Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP) on the PC port. Use this setting to force the phone to use a specific discovery protocol. Settings include: • Enabled-default From Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration, choose Device > Phone > Phone Configuration • Disabled Enables and disables Link Layer Discovery Protocol Media Endpoint Discovery (LLDP-MED) on the switch port. Use this setting to force the phone to use a specific discovery protocol, which should match the protocol supported by the switch.
