Server Specific Troubleshooting Table D-7: SmartStart Fails During Installation Possible Cause Possible Solution An operating system has not been selected. 1. Press the F9 key to run RBSU. 2. Select the primary operating system. An error occurs during installation. Follow the error information provided. If necessary, clear NVRAM in RBSU and reinstall the operating system. The CMOS is not cleared. Clear NVRAM in RBSU and reinstall the operating system. IMPORTANT: Clearing NVRAM removes user data from the boot drives. To clear NVRAM and erase the boot drives, select the Advanced Options menu in RBSU, and then select Erase NVRAM/Boot Space Disk. Table D-8: Server Cannot Load the Operating System Possible Cause Required operating system step was missed. Installation problem occurred. Possible Solution Follow these steps: 1. Note at which phase the operating system failed. 2. Remove any loaded operating system. 3. Refer to the operating system documentation. 4. Install the operating system again. Refer to the operating system documentation and to the SmartStart Release Notes on the SmartStart CD.
