Troubleshooting General Troubleshooting Some Quick and Easy Tips for Resolving Problems Installation Symptom Cannot direct enter channel number. Possible Cause(s) (TV in Pass-through Mode) Installer Menu item 028 CH. OVERIDE is set to 0, i.e., disabled (recommended setting). (TV in FTG Mode) The channel entered is not included in the FTG Channel Map. Possible Solution(s) If Installer Menu item 028 CH. OVERIDE is set to 0, only channels that are active in the TV's channel lineup can be selected. Set CH. OVERIDE to 1 to allow access for direct keypad entry to all channels. Channel access is restricted to channels included in the FTG Channel Map. If necessary, make changes to the FTG Channel Map using the FTG File Manager or the FTG Device Configuration Application, as appropriate. Picture Reception and Sound Symptom Possible Cause(s) No picture. TV is turned OFF. Normal picture, poor or no sound. Antenna/cable not connected. Connections incorrect. MPI not connected. Encrypted program. Wrong tuning band. Audio muted. Broadcast problem. Possible Solution(s) • Turn TV ON. • Power failure? Connect antenna/cable signal to TV. Check connections on TV. If applicable, connect MPI cable to MPI device. Try another channel. Adjust Installer Menu settings. Press MUTE or use Volume Up key to increase sound level. Try a different channel. Erratic Operation Symptom Installer Menu setup. Possible Cause(s) Wrong Installer Menu settings. Possible Solution(s) Adjust Installer Menu settings as required. Installer Remote Symptom Remote doesn't work. Possible Cause(s) Remote not in TV Mode. Not aimed at IR receiver. Remote too far from IR receiver or IR path is obstructed. MPI not connected. Weak batteries. Wrong battery polarity. Too much light in room. Wrong Installer Remote. Possible Solution(s) Use MODE key to select "TV"; puts remote into TV Mode. Point remote at IR receiver on TV. Move remote closer to IR receiver on TV, darken room, and/or remove obstructions. If applicable, connect MPI cable to MPI device. Replace batteries.
