There is essentially no net gain in the use of the Erase Sectors Command and/or the Write Without Erase Commands. This command is supported to guarantee backward compatibility. To remain host backward compatible, the card expects a sector buffer of data from the host to follow the command with the same protocol as the Write Sector(s) command although the information in the buffer is not used by the card. If LBA=1 then the number of sectors to format is taken from the Sec Cnt register (0=256). NOTE: The Format Track command in Table 5-6 is no longer recommended. The command is supported to guarantee backward compatibility. Format Track–50H
This command writes the desired head and cylinder of the selected drive with an FFh pattern.
To remain host backward compatible, the card expects a sector buffer of data from the host to
follow the command with the same protocol as the Write Sector(s) command although the
information in the buffer is not used by the card. If LBA=1 then the number of sectors to
format is taken from the Sec Cnt register (0=256).
